Who We Are.

“Can you remember who you were before the world told you who you should be?”  Charles Bukowski

Who we are: In this short article, Jaime reflects on the choices we make in life from his book The Sh!t I Wished I Learned in College.

“Your time is limited, so don’t waste it living someone else’s life. Don’t be trapped by dogma – which is living with the results of other people’s thinking. Don’t let the noise of others’ opinions drown out your own inner voice. And most important, have the courage to follow your heart and intuition.” Steve Jobs

“Only when we forget what we were taught do we start to have real knowledge.” Henry David Thoreau

Free will

We have our own free will; we should use it. Either we choose who we are, or the world will tell us who we should be. We have a choice; we can choose which path we will follow. We can choose the outcome, or we can let others choose our outcome for us, but we do get to decide. If we fail to exercise our choices, society will choose for us. If we choose not to make our own decisions, society will decide for us. If we do not decide how to use our time, others will tell us. If we choose not to decide what to think or believe, others will tell us.

Think for yourself, not of yourself. Think of others, not for others. The Sh!t I Wished I Learned in College by Jaime Jackson
