Jaime Jackson Law is committed to supporting diversity, equality, and inclusion in the legal profession. As part of this commitment, each summer, the firm offers a paid internship to a student who comes from a traditionally underrepresented background. The initiative for this program derives from a lack of diversity among lawyers who specialize in representing plaintiffs in product liability litigation.
Below, Shontae Petrie reflects on her ten week internship with Jaime Jackson Law team before heading into her second year of law at Penn State Dickinson Law School.

My summer at Jaime Jackson Law has been nothing short of remarkable. As someone who has always found the practice of personal injury fascinating, I was even more intrigued by Jaime Jackson Law’s focus on the area of products liability. From my very first day, I was given an abundance of knowledge which was just a small glimpse into how educational my summer would be. To say that my interests in litigation have been fueled would be a vast understatement. I leave this internship with more knowledge, skills, and passion for client advocacy than I could have ever imagined.
Jaime and Emma are the epitome of passion and compassion, and this is manifested in the outstanding work they do at the firm. They genuinely care about every single client. Add to that, both are relentless advocates for the well-being of their clients while garnering every ounce of possible justice. They truly have every individual’s best interests at heart, and it shows in every way.
Not only are they passionate towards their clients, but as an intern, I received that treatment as well. Every project, task, or assignment was a bigger learning opportunity than the last. And, Emma and Jaime assured that there was always something meaningful to do. They were incredibly patient in my mistakes and seized every opportunity to educate, provide constructive advice, and remind me that there is always room to learn and grow in the legal field. As I now head into my second year of law school, I go with a plethora of research, writing, time-management, revision, and advocacy skills that only an internship with Jaime Jackson Law could have given me.
