Jaime Jackson was part of a litigation team that obtained a favorable arbitration award for a client involved in a motor vehicle crash. Arbitration can be less costly and more time efficient than a lawsuit. Yet, decisions reached through arbitration are also binding, just like a verdict in a court case.
Jaime Jackson recently settled an automotive products liability case against a vehicle manufacturer. Our clients were the parents whose son died in a vehicle fuel-fed fire following a collision.
In this case, the vehicle exited its travel lane and left the roadway for unknown reasons. The vehicle collided with a drainage ditch which caused it to flip over and catch fire. Tragically, the driver could not get out of the vehicle and died in the fire.
A construction worker who was in the area working on a project for his employer went to dinner with his co-workers. He had several drinks then got behind the wheel of his employer’s pick-up truck. Realizing he had passed the entrance to his hotel, he attempted an illegal U-turn. As the pick-up was turning left, it slammed into another vehicle travelling in the opposite direction. The driver of that vehicle suffered multiple injuries, including a traumatic brain injury.
